Welcome to Moorlands Dog Rescue

At Moorlands Rescue we fund the care, including food and veterinary costs, of dogs in need. We take in dogs from several sources - Moorlands' accept some 'hand-in' dogs if space is available. We have an average of ten rescue dogs at any one time, all breeds, ages, sizes and colours. Please contact us if you are interested in rehoming one of our rescued dogs, we can arrange an appointment for you to come and meet them (We carry out interviews and home checks prior to adoption and require a donation to the Moorlands Rescue).

Please note that viewing our rescue dogs is strictly by appoinment only!

Greyhound & Lurcher Rescue
We are actively involved with Greyhound and Lurcher rescue, providing boarding for Greyhound Rescue Shropshire & Borders (GRSB), a charity set up in 2006 operating under the Retired Greyhound Trust (RGT). We aim to re-home as many Greyhounds and Lurchers as possible, and to raise awareness of the plight of ex-racing greyhounds in particular. It is generally accepted that some 9000 greyhounds each year either 'retire' from the track or considered not good enough to make the grade. Many responsible trainers place these dogs with organisations such as ours so that they can be re-homed, but many more are not so lucky are either abandoned or killed.

Greyhounds make excellent pets, being a gentle and undemanding breed, deeply in love with home comforts and surprisingly idle! A couple of twenty minute walks a day is all they require and they will quite happily sleep for the rest of the day. The temperament of a Lurcher varies depending on the Greyhound cross, but we make every effort to establish the nature of all of our dogs, so potential owners know exactly what they are getting and that home and dog are suitability matched.

We welcome your donations with thanks...
